Custom Industrial Roller Manufacturing
When standard catalog rollers cannot withstand your line speed, aggressive chemical bath, or extreme operating temperatures, Mishree Engineers engineers bespoke rollers precision-machined to your exact CAD drawings, OEM tolerances, or worn sample physical reverse engineering.
Overcoming Complex Production Challenges
Modern manufacturing plants in textiles, flexible packaging, steel processing, and bulk material handling operate under demanding continuous-duty cycles. Off-the-shelf rollers often fail prematurely due to:
- Material Incompatibility: Aggressive solvents, alkaline dyes, plasticizer migration, or outdoor ozone cracking standard elastomer sleeves.
- Thermal Expansion & Runout: High-temperature lamination or drying ovens causing shaft warping and web wrinkling.
- Deflection Under Heavy Line Loads: Inadequate pipe wall thickness or improper shaft stepped transitions inducing shaft fatigue failure.
- Premature Bearing Seizure: Inadequate labyrinth sealing allowing abrasive dust, coal slurries, or washdown chemicals into bearing cavities.
At Mishree Engineers, our in-house engineering and machine shop in Ahmedabad manufactures rollers designed specifically around your line speed, tension profiles, contact media, and environmental constraints.

- Multi-Labyrinth Dust Sealing: Triple-barrier nylon/polypropylene labyrinth seals with high-temp synthetic grease.
4. Surface Profiles & Textures
Engineered surface topographies to manage film traction, eliminate air entrapment, and prevent web creasing:
- Grooving Patterns: Spiral grooving, diamond knurling, herringbone / chevron grooves for continuous belt centering.
- Crown / Camber Grinding: Controlled parabolic or circular crown to prevent centre belt sag under high tension.
- Surface Roughness: Mirror finish (Ra < 0.2 μm) for scratch-free optical film handling to matte/grit finishes.
- Release Textures: Anti-static conductive rubber blends (resistivity < 10&sup6; Ω) to dissipate static charges.
5. Heating & Cooling Cores
Specialized internal thermal designs for precise temperature control during web processing:
- Double-Shell Jacket Rollers: Spiral baffle internal flow channels for uniform surface heat transfer.
- Chilled Water Cooling: For rapid heat dissipation on film extrusion, embossing, and blown film winders.
- Hot Oil / Steam Circulation: Heavy-wall pressure tested vessels rated for thermal oil heating up to 220°C.
- Rotary Union Ready: Precision turned and threaded shaft ends machined to fit standard Deublin/Johnson rotary joints.
6. Sample Reverse Engineering
Fast-track fabrication for broken or worn imported OEM rollers when original drawings are missing:
- Physical Measurement: Coordinate measuring, micrometer caliper profiling, and thread pitch verification.
- Hardness & Material Identification: Durometer Shore hardness testing and alloy composition checks.
- 2D/3D CAD Generation: Conversion into standard fabrication blueprints for customer sign-off prior to cutting steel.
- Re-Covering / Re-Sheathing: Stripping old degraded rubber or PU, inspecting underlying core, and re-vulcanizing.
The 5-Step Custom Engineering Workflow
From your initial concept or worn sample to a certified, dynamically balanced roller on your line.
Consultation & Drawing Review
You submit your 2D CAD (DWG, DXF, PDF) or 3D STEP files, or ship a worn sample to our Ahmedabad facility. Our application engineers analyze line speed, web tension, chemicals, and temperature parameters.
Material Selection & Quote Approval
We recommend the optimal core metallurgy, shaft design, and elastomer compound. A transparent commercial proposal with dimensional tolerances, lead time, and material specifications is issued.
Precision Machining & Core Fabrication
Pipes are cut, turned, and bored on heavy-duty CNC lathes. Shafts are CNC turned with precise bearing journals and stress-relieved radii. Flanges are welded with full penetration and stress relieved.
Coating, Grinding & Dynamic Balancing
The core is sandblasted, primed with bonding adhesives, and vulcanized/cast with the selected rubber or PU elastomer. After curing, cylindrical grinding achieves the target diameter, and computerized dynamic balancing guarantees minimal vibration.
Quality Inspection & Safe Crating
100% inspection of diameter, TIR runout, Shore hardness, and journal tolerances. Rollers are coated with rust inhibitors, wrapped in protective foam and heavy plastic, and packed into reinforced wooden crates for dispatch across India and overseas.

Frequently Asked Questions on Custom Rollers
We accept 2D CAD files in DWG, DXF, and dimensioned PDF formats, as well as 3D solid models in STEP (.stp), IGES (.igs), and SLDPRT formats. If you do not have CAD drawings, a clean hand sketch with key dimensions (OD, ID, face length, shaft diameter, keyway dimensions) or sending the physical sample to our Ahmedabad plant is completely acceptable.
We have no strict minimum order quantity for custom rollers. We routinely fabricate single-piece replacement rollers for maintenance shutdowns, prototype rollers for machine builders (OEMs), and high-volume production batches of 100 to 5,000+ units for conveyor and packaging systems.
Yes. Many clients bring or courier worn, cracked, or deformed rollers from European, Japanese, or American machinery whose original manufacturer no longer supports them or quotes exorbitant import lead times. We strip the roller, measure core dimensions, test elastomer hardness, generate manufacturing drawings, and produce a high-performance replacement locally in Ahmedabad.
Standard lead times for custom CNC-turned metal and conveyor rollers range from 5 to 10 working days. For rubber or polyurethane vulcanized rollers requiring custom compounding, mold preparation, and dynamic balancing, lead times are typically 10 to 18 working days. Emergency breakdown services are available for critical plant shutdowns upon request.
Yes. Every custom roller order can be supplied with Raw Material Mill Test Certificates (chemical and mechanical properties), Dimensional Inspection Reports (CMM/vernier), Dynamic Balancing Certificates (TIR runout & residual unbalance in g-mm), and Shore Hardness verification certificates.
